How to Start a 3D Sticker Production Business
For print shops, signage producers and label manufacturers adding a high-margin product line – not a guide to starting from zero.
Most guides to starting a sticker business assume you have nothing. This one assumes the opposite: you already print, you already cut, and you already have customers who buy stickers from you.
Domed stickers are the same customers paying more for the same order. What you add is one production step – and the equipment to run it repeatably.
Who Buys Domed Stickers
In most cases, the people already buying flat ones.
Brands and merchandise
Retail sticker packs, promotional stickers, product branding. Domed products sit at a price point flat stickers cannot reach, because the finish is visibly different in the hand.
Automotive
Dealerships, detailing studios, parts suppliers. Domed decals survive weather and washing, which is why the segment pays for them.
Equipment and appliance manufacturers
Rating labels, control panel labels, brand marks on housings. Industrial buyers order in repeat volumes and value durability over price.
Agencies and resellers
Producers who currently outsource domed work. For them you become the supplier – the shortest sales path, because the demand already exists and is being served by someone further away.

The Unit Economics
What decides whether this works for you: two numbers we can supply, and two only you know.
- What we know
- Automatic dispensing runs at 1,200 stickers per hour, and material cost is $0.05 per sticker. One operator runs the complete production – no second person, no specialist.
- What you know
- Your selling price and your volumes. Both depend on your market, your customers and your product mix, and any number we published here would be a guess about your business.
- What the machine works out for you
- Before a job runs, the software calculates the exact resin volume and dispensing time for it – so quoting a customer doesn’t wait on running the machine first.
- What you already have
- Printer, cutting plotter, production floor, customers. Doming adds one step to a process you run today; it does not add a new business to learn.
- Where the margin comes from
- The gap between what a customer pays for a flat sticker and what the same customer pays for a domed one is larger than the cost of the resin. That gap, multiplied by the orders you already fill, is the business case – before a single new customer.
In practice
For a single sticker of about 15 cm², resin costs roughly $0.05. Laid out on a full A5 sheet as a sticker pack – several stickers with room between them for the cutter – resin costs about $0.70. A typical layout uses roughly 60% of the sheet for stickers; the rest is spacing and cut margins, and none of it costs resin.

What You Need to Start
Most of it is already on your floor.
| Printer | Yours – no change to how you print |
|---|---|
| Cutting plotter | Yours – contour cutting as usual |
| Doming machine | Finch500, with software and curing oven included |
| Resin | Polyurethane, supplied on an ongoing program |
| Operator | One, trained in a couple of days |
| Floor space | Space for the machine and the curing oven |

No specialist hire, no separate production site, no new customer base. That is the whole point of adding a line rather than starting one.
See the machine in detailFrom Decision to First Order
Four stages. Only one of them involves waiting.
Before you order
Run your numbers, request a quote with delivery terms for your country, and ask for samples so you can show real domed products to a customer before you own the machine.
Delivery
We handle crating, export documents and shipping. Delivery time depends on destination.
Startup and training
Remote-guided installation, first test runs, and operator training on the complete workflow – software, dispensing, curing.
First production
Start with an order you already have. The fastest first sale is usually a flat-sticker customer who has never been offered the domed version.
See It Before You Commit
Book a live video demo: we’ll run your layout on the Finch500 and dome a real production sheet while you watch. Or request a sample pack of finished 3D stickers delivered to your office – the fastest way to find out what your own customers say about the product.
